‘Change is Coming' group forming in Butte
"Change is Coming," a Butte grassroots group, will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Venus Rising, Park and Main.
Folks interested in civic issues are invited to be involved in the local group, which will provide feedback to the U.S. presidential transition team and will also address local issues.
Change is Coming will participate in opportunities to influence the national discussion President-elect Obama has generated regarding the setting of priorities, developing ideas, legislation, plus actions that can be taken online and within our communities, according to a news release.
The group has already agreed to take up predatory lending as a local issue to follow, and will hold a local forum on that issue in late January. In addition, Molly Moody, a health care issues specialist, will speak at the Wednesday meeting.
Wednesday's meeting will further identify areas of interest and ongoing discussion within the following possibilities, health care, infrastructure and public works, campaign finance reform, transportation and immigration.
Call Naomi Maney, 782-8092, NaomiManey @bresnan.net. to RSVP for the Wednesday meeting, if possible.
