Good Neighbors

By The Montana Standard Staff - 12/01/2008

Family grateful for friends Our new home on Ski Area Loop burned to the ground Nov. 17. We would like to express our gratitude to our wonderful friends and all of their support. When a tragedy like this happens, it is comforting to know how many people care and are ready to roll up their sleeves and help put your home back together. Also, thank you to the responding fire departments for their efforts to save our home. We are lucky to live in a community where people care so much and would do anything for you.

We are still looking for our old Australian shepherd. Please call 498-1896 if you have seen her.

— Casey and Patty Austin, 3104 Richardson St., Butte Butte people taking care A few weeks ago I took a tumble in my kitchen and caught my fall on my left hand. When my wrist began to swell I thought I should wrap it in an Ace bandage overnight and check it in the morning. When I went to the pharmacist at CVS to make the payment, I showed her my arm and she insisted that it should be X-rayed. It was too late in the day for the urgent-care places, so I had to go to the hospital emergency room.

When Mary Beth at CVS found out that I planned to drive myself, she consulted with MaryAnn and told me she would take me to the hospital in her car. She asked for my car keys so another CVS employee, Julie, could drive my car to my home when her shift ended. Mary Beth gave me her number to call when I was ready, but she was already waiting in the reception room when I finally came out with a cast on my arm. When I got home my car was parked in my driveway.

Now that's Butte folks taking care of each other.

— DorothyAnne Honeychurch, Butte Owners thankful for found dog On Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, we were hiking on the East Ridge. Our beagle, Jennee, was distracted by a deer and was separated from us for several hours. We contacted neighbors in the area, walked and searched, and called for her to come until late afternoon with no success. After thinking that we would just have to go back and search for her the next morning, we received a call from our neighbor telling us that an unknown couple had returned our dog to our home.

Words cannot express the thanks and appreciation we have for their kindness. Since we didn't know their names, we wanted to let them know how relieved we were after getting that call.

Thank you, thank you, from both of our hearts and Jennee's too.
