Polls open Tuesday

By The Montana Standard Staff - 11/04/2008

Area polls are open Tuesday, with most voting places open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Registered voters should cast a ballot at their local polling places. Unregistered voters must go to the courthouse in the county in which they live between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Voters who register Tuesday must wait for staff to prepare their ballot, which must be voted in the office.

Polling places and times are as follows:

  • In the Butte-Silver Bow County, polls are open at the Butte Civic Center, Ramsay school, Rocker Fire Hall and Divide Grange Hall from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and from noon to 8 p.m. at the Melrose School. As ballots are counted, results will be shown on the large screen on the west side of the Civic Center, and will be posted at www.bsb.mt.gov.

Tabulation and processing of the ballots will be completed in the Civic Center Annex to reduce the trips elections officials must make between the courthouse and the Civic Center.

  • In Deer Lodge County, polls are open at Warm Springs, the Opportunity Community Club, Fred Moodry Middle School and Dwyer Primary from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • In Madison County, polls are open at the Alder Community Center and Virginia City Community Center from noon to 8 p.m., and at the Sheridan Library, the Twin Bridges School, Cardwell School, Harrison High School, Madison Valley First Station and Ennis Town Hall from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • In Beaverhead County, precincts in and around Dillon open at 7 a.m. at the Lutheran Church, while most rural precincts open at noon. Polls in Dell, Grant, Glen, Polaris, Jackson, Wisdom and Wise River open at noon. Lima polls will be open at 7 a.m. All polling places open are open until 8 p.m.

  • In Jefferson County, polls open at 7 a.m. with the exception of Elk Park, which opens at noon. Voters in precincts that vote in Whitehall, Boulder, Clancy, Jefferson City, Basin and Montana City can go to the polls at 7 a.m. All polls remain open until 8 p.m.

The Montana Standard, and www.mtstandard.com, will have full election coverage.
