Most camping equipment is a step down from the at-home version. Portable barbecues, for example, can only grill one item at a time. Foldable campfire chairs are mere inches off the ground. And lanterns are really a throwback to the days before electricity.
So most camping equipment is stashed in storage until the next trip. But there is gear that is so practical, it can be used between trips. The Selk Bag from LippiOutdoor is a sleeping bag with a hood, arms and legs. It is designed to function in a variety of temperatures so it can be worn at a campsite, football game or the couch.
The Selk bag can handle temperatures as low as 32 degrees. It has a soft-touch shell and is made with durable nylon taffeta. The insulation is hollow-fiber bonded polyester. There are also leg vents and reinforced soles (to prevent slippage should you wear it from the couch to the kitchen to get a snack.) There are zippers throughout, including reversible zippers. There is also a drawstring on the hood. The XL will fit people up to six feet four inches, the medium fits people five feet and shorter. Weight ranges from 3.4 to 4.5 pounds.
Available in green, red or yellow, the sleeping bag suits start at $139; for sale at SummitHut.com, Amazon.com or OutdoorPremierGear.com.
