Candidate forum being held tonight
Candidates for Butte-Silver Bow chief executive will debate in Montana Tech's library auditorium beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday (tonight).
Paul Babb, incumbent chief executive, and Mary McMahon, clerk and recorder, will express their views on the current state of the community and share their plans for the future.
A second candidate forum will follow at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Student Union Building's Copper Lounge at Montana Tech. Butte-Silver Bow sheriff and county attorney candidates will share the floor at this event.
Local bail bondsman Ben Thielen is challenging incumbent John Walsh for sheriff, and deputy county attorneys Eileen Joyce and Samm Cox are vying for the top spot on that office since long-time incumbent Bob McCarthy is not seeking reelection.
Both events are co-sponsored by The Montana Standard and Montana Tech. A panel of journalists will moderate the discussions and ask questions.
