Don't get lost and angry get Mad Maps
By Dan Vierria - 10/01/2008
Mad Maps has unleashed four new "tour packs," including the Pacific region, for its traveling brethren. New tour packs also are available for the Gulf Coast, Atlantic and Eastern Central regions of the United States.
The small San Francisco-based company, which launched about 10 years ago in a home basement, uses local scouts to report on least- traveled and scenic routes for motorists and motorcyclists. Maps also point out unique places to eat and visit.
The newly updated Northern California map, part of the Pacific tour pack, features 32 scenic tour routes, including the 71-mile "No Whining in the Country" through the Sonoma and Napa wine regions, and the 180-mile "High on Mount Diablo" tour. Each tour has turn-by-turn directions.
A 181-mile "Ramblin' River Run" snakes along Sacramento's Delta region and the Sacramento River.
The Pacific tour pack also includes new maps of the Oregon/Washington, Southern California/southern Nevada and Sierra/northern Nevada regions.
Each tour pack ($49.95) includes a four-part map set in a heavy-duty nylon case. Individual maps may be purchased for $10.95.
