Letter: Don’t support Hillary, Obama
By Larry Feight - 04/18/2008
To the great people of Butte, some of whom I know. I had a difficult time deciding if I really want to make these comments.
Butte has a great reputation of having people who speak their mind and know what they truly want in life, traits I admire. That is why knowing what I do about the people of Butte that I was amazed to see the outpouring of support for two presidential candidates that show no support for what you stand for. Let me point out just a few of the topics I refer to that these two candidates do not support: your right to own guns, access and use of federal lands, business, right to life, control of wolves, development of natural resources, your faith in God, your right to speak out (free speak).
The list just goes on and yet I watched as people poured time, money and praise on two people who want to take all these things away from you. I watched in disbelief as the local news media went “nuts” over two people, one who even went as far as to say the “hair on the back of his neck stood up when Obama entered the room.” Please, Butte, don’t be blinded by your past affiliations. This party got you to the dance and left you there years ago. Don’t be blinded because all of a sudden two of them show up because “they need your support.” In the end you will receive far less than what you expect. The price you pay to support either of these candidates may be more than you can afford.
