Women’s flyfishing class on the hook
By the Three Rivers News Services - 02/19/2008
DILLON — The beauty of Montana invites a multitude of outdoor activities. One of the more popular is fly-fishing.
A growing trend both nationally and in Montana, is the number of women fly-fishing. What was once a male-dominated sport is not anymore.
“Fly-fishing for Women” is a non-credit class at the University of Montana Western Wednesdays, Mar. 5 to 26 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sorry guys, this class is open to women only.
Instructor and expert fly-fisherman Dave Borjas will lead participants through the basics of fly-fishing and fly-tying. Also covered is a bit of entomology and river lore.
The class will take place mainly indoors. Materials are furnished, but participants can bring a fly-fishing pole if desired.
There is a $30 class fee.
To register by phone or email or for more information, call the Montana Western School of Outreach at 683-7537 or toll-free 1-866-799-9140 or by email at outreach@umwestern.edu.
