Rugratz day care opens Uptown
By Holly Michels - 03/08/2008
Rugratz Daycare is now open at 401 N. Main St. Uptown, across the street from the Federal Courthouse.
Rugratz is owned by Kayli Murray, a Butte native. She and two other women, all mothers, will staff the day care.
Murray said she modeled the day care on what she would want for her 6-month-old son.
“I wanted things I, as a mother, would want,” she said. “I want to feel as safe as possible dropping my kid off.” Rugratz will offer a Webcam in the play room of the day care, hooked up to a secure Web site that lets parents use a password to access live video of their children.
“Parents can log on any time of the day while the day care is open and check on their kiddos,” Murray said.
Rugratz will also offer three meals a day and two healthy snacks. “There’s no sugary foods, 100 percent juice, all natural and organic foods,” Murray said.
The building, which formerly housed a coffee shop, has a full kitchen and was recently remodeled. Murray’s two employees are Kim Boyle and Amber Kougioulis.
The day care has a playroom with toys, a bowling and basketball play set and craft area and a separate dining room.
Murray said communication with parents and one-on-one time with children is her focus.
“The staff will have their own few kids they take care of,” she said. “Communication is the No. 1 thing between parents and me.” Rugratz charges $100 per week for one child, with a discount for additional children. Kids age 2 and up are accepted. For more information, contact Murray at 498-7201 or 782-4073.
