Restaurant sign, parking lot among projects approved

In other business Wednesday, the Urban Revitalization Agency:
Approved a $3,494, or 25 percent of eligible costs, to fund a new awning for Harrington’s Surgical Supply, 53 E. Broadway St.
Granted $1,500 to the Old Montana Bar and Grill, 215 W. Park St., to commission John Wetzel to build a new neon sign to attach to the facade of the restaurant. The total project will cost $6,000.
Funded $20,662 of an $82,650 parking lot renovation at Subway, 350 S. Montana St. Owners Gene and Tamera Jense recently purchased a lot north of their restaurant that previously belonged to the Butte Unity Truth Center, 300 S. Montana St. They plan to create additional parking spaces, install new retaining walls, landscape and install and repair storm drains.
Partnered with Norm DeNeal, arborist for Butte-Silver Bow County, to fund improvements at the Old Lexington Gardens at Granite and Arizona.
DeNeal said this season he plans to update the Butte informational sign at the gardens, add another sign to explain the historic stamp mill workings and build a bench. He also plans to create a native plant garden near the site.
