There are some sports so strenuous, you have to stop and refuel. Runners in marathons often sip energy gels. Hikers munch on protein bars and cyclists down energy drinks.
It’s important to fuel you body with nutrients and calories. But what about your dog? A hard game of Frisbee, swimming in the lake or hiking in the hills may mean your dog also needs a shot of energy.
Of course, feeding your dog an energy bar isn’t healthy and possibly dangerous. But there are products made just for active dogs. The Power Bones from Zuke’s are treats meant to give dogs extra energy during play sessions.
Power Bones do not contain wheat, corn or soy, three ingredients that are allergens for many dogs. The bones are also free of artificial colors and preservatives so the result is a natural treat.
Each piece is made with simple carbs for quick digestion. It’s formulated with carrots for Vitamin A, ground flaxseed for Omega-3 Fatty Acids and whole grains for fiber, protein and minerals. There’s also apple and blueberries to help with digestion and provide anti-oxidants.
Power Bones are made in the U.S. and available in three flavors: beef, chicken and peanut butter. A five-ounce bag is $5.59 and is available at Zukes.com or local pet boutiques.
