Bill Junior and the Montana Rangers

BANNACK — Bill Junior and the Montana Rangers, a bluegrass band from Helena, will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Old Church at Bannack State Park.

The band performs traditional, high-lonesome bluegrass music, drawing from the tradition of Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, the Stanley Brothers, and Reno & Smiley.

Saturday's group will feature Doc Harwell on bass fiddle and guitar, singing lead vocals; Bill Junior on mandolin and five-string banjo, singing lead and tenor vocals; Mike Korn on guitar and bass, singing lead and baritone vocals; and Derek Hofer playing rhythm and lead guitar. Ellie Nuño, legendary fiddler from Missoula, will make a special guest appearance with the band.

Park hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. For details, call park at 834-3413. It’s located west of Dillon.
