Desert Pixie’s top 5

By The Standard Staff - 07/12/2007

Wendy Reynolds moved to Moab six years ago with a dream of becoming a pro mountain biker. Today, she’s having success as a pro and is known locally as the Desert Pixie. Here are her Top 5 Moab trails.

1. PORCUPINE RIM: 20 miles, advanced skill level. ‘‘Extremely scenic and very technical and fast,’’ she says.

2. AMASA BACK: 9 miles, low-end advanced. ‘‘Very scenic and similar to Porcupine, but shorter.’’

3. SLICKROCK TRAIL: 10.2 miles, advanced. ‘‘The most unique trail here because the terrain is 100 percent rock. The rock is very tacky so you can ride where it is extremely steep.’’

4. SOVEREIGN: 16 miles, intermediate. ‘‘It’s really flowy single-track, which is unique because we don’t have much single-track around here.’’

5. PORCUPINE RIM: ‘‘If you are here for any extended period of time, you have to ride Porcupine twice.’’
